Venetia Berry

Brixton based maker, artist and sculptor Venetia Berry, who is renowned for her exceptional skills in painting, ceramics, and printmaking, all celebrating the female form and the essence of womanhood.

We were fortunate enough to speak with Venetia about her edit, which celebrates colour and creativity. We loved hearing about her two-dimensional painting ‘Moonstone’ and ‘Hypnos’ which are both inspired by mother nature and the female connection to the landscape.

What makes Venetia's works so special is how an array of lines, shapes, and colours come together within each piece to form wonderful figures and faces. These figures are often recognisable and create a dreamlike atmosphere, leading to a real sense of surprise and delight. We also adore the trio of terracotta women named "Terracotta Body 1, 2, & 3 "—the rich terracotta has such depth, and the curvaceous, robust forms are so beautiful - definitely one of our  favourites from the edit!
