A portrait of a plant, in this series of large Iris Paintings, Sophie captures the majesty and elegance of the Iris, almost as if she has painted the personality of each flower. Iris Benton Caramel is a tall beared variety bred by the late artist Cedric Morris, whose artworks are famous for portraying the Irises. An inspirational artist for Sophie she was keen to incorporate that history into this collection. This painting also includes the full life span of the plant, with the wilting section, full bloom flower and then the bud of hope to come.
